Dental Implants

With a success rate of about 97%, a dental implant is one of the most reliable and long-lasting of all dental restorations, making it an excellent choice for patients who need to replace one or more missing teeth.

Dental implants will free you from the traditional concerns of dentures, like poor fit, discomfort, unnatural appearance, and slipping and sliding. They are fixed into the jaw and become a real working part of your bite.

How Do Dental Implants Work?

The procedure happens in two phases:

  1. Implant Placement: An oral surgeon or periodontist will evaluate the implant area and place the titanium implant screw gently into the jawbone. If you lack sufficient bone to support the implant, the specialist will do a bone grafting procedure.  This bulks up the bone at the implant site.  After the implant screw heals for 3-6 months, the second phase begins.
  2. Implant Restoration: Dr. Danesh will do this part at Westbank Dental. Once the specialist gives her the ‘green light’, she will add the tooth onto the implant. The restoration has two parts: abutment and crown. The abutment serves as the connector piece that attaches the implant screw to the crown. Because of Dr. Danesh’s expertise in cosmetics and attention to detail, you will love the natural look of your new crown!

Am I a Good Candidate for an Implant?

implants are available to all patients with missing teeth who have sufficient jawbone volume for placement. If you are dissatisfied with your dentures or bridge or if you are experiencing the difficulties of chewing and speaking without teeth, ask Dr. Danesh about dental implants.

Patients with an implant must maintain good oral hygiene habits, including brushing, flossing, and regular dental exams. Patients with preexisting health concerns may not be good candidates. After just one visit with Dr. Danesh, you can find out if you are eligible for dental implants.

What are the Benefits?

  • Advanced Aesthetics: Our patients are pleasantly surprised by how real dental implants appear. You will regain your self-esteem and feel confident when you smile, speak, and laugh.
  • Jawbone Insurance: Dental implants protect the jawbone, preventing the bone loss that often accompanies missing teeth. You can avoid the sunken jaw look and the jaw discomfort that usually follows tooth loss when you choose dental implants.
  • Easier Eating: You will be able to resume your normal diet with dental implants. You can eat anything because implants function like natural teeth.
  • Preserve Adjacent Teeth: Dental implants do not require any work performed on the surrounding teeth to stay in place. You will not have to damage your healthy teeth to restore your smile.
